10% Savings

It has been observed—and I have come to agree—that our current system of saving has never delivered anything truly significant. Instead, it has created a false belief that "these savings are my backup," along with a lingering fear that they might be wiped out in an emergency.

This method of saving 10%—or any fixed percentage—has been promoted by two of my most respected mentors, Napoleon Hill and Bob Proctor. And while I believe it may be useful for those who are irresponsible with money or unable to control their desires, that usefulness is only temporary. It serves as a learning tool while they learn to manage their finances. But in the long run, this approach creates a false assumption: that the money you save is the source of your financial security—rather than the God who gave it, or the mind that worked for it.

That is the first issue.

The second issue is the constant fear that if something happens, this money will be gone.

The third issue is that you become more focused on saving than on earning.

The first false belief limits your mind to your own current potential, closing you off from the open expectation of blessings from the Unlimited God. The second—fear—actually attracts the very calamities you worry about. And the third turns you into a miser.

In my opinion, a person bound by such financial policies cannot become truly financially independent.

So what is the alternative? You may find it more spiritual than practical—but consider this: Look at the rivers and lakes that God created from rain. The water accumulated automatically, exactly where God wanted it. In the same way, if you spend carefully—only on what is needed, and no more—a financial surplus will naturally begin to appear. This surplus will accumulate in your cash reserves and bank accounts, like water filling a lake or river. But you will not name it "savings."

Sometimes you will spend from this money, but you will not feel it as a loss—because you are not "saving" anything. You are simply trusting Allah that you will always be provided for.

This creates God-consciousness instead of money-consciousness, and a positive vibration that will attract everything you ever need. What you need may not always come directly from this surplus—but whatever you need will come to you. No pressure. No fear.

In the words of Dr. Joe Dispenza: Relax, and everything will come to you.
